Should I Update my Auto Insurance?

You faithfully renew your auto insurance every year, but have you thought about whether it covers all aspects of your risks? Most motorists do have car insurance but don’t give it a second look to ensure it covers their current needs. At The Insurance Shop USA in Sandpoint, ID, we usually tell our clients to update their car insurance policy every year. However, sometimes you don’t have to wait for a year to lapse. When the below happens, please inform your insurance agent to review your car insurance right away.

Buying or selling your car

Getting a new ride? You need to review your auto insurance. The good thing is that you can transfer your old policy to your new car. However, you need to update the policy with the details of your current vehicle.

The same case goes if you have sold your car. Inform your insurer to remove the car from your policy. Otherwise, you might pay for insurance that you no longer need.

If you move

Secured a new job in another state? Inform your insurer because the location could be one of the factors that affect your car insurance. Plus, you would want to have an insurer with a presence in your current state.

Commercial use

If you are using your personal car to run business errands, update your insurance to commercial to get coverage when accidents happen.

A new teen driver

Once your teenage son or daughter starts driving your car, they aren’t automatically added to your policy. It would be best to inform the insurer to make the necessary adjustments.
